Summer 2002 Nativity newsletter)
+ Dick Gerhart passed out a Church
Insurance Summary. Since April 26, our insurance coverage has been increased. The new
coverage, includes up to $1,000,000 (directors and officers liability), $601,000 on
building 31, $840,000 on building #2 (new church). Gerhart explained that the coverage
will be reviewed after appraisal prior to renewal of the policy in October 2002.
+ Karla Porter told the vestry that
the April report reflects low pledge receipts, but higher general contributions.
+ Joe Schifano passed out Quarterly
Building Fund reports, reflecting activity in the first quarter of 2002. He told the
vestry that most of the building expenses (invoices) have been received and been paid
($1,481,062.69 in disbursements). $38,000 in Building Fund pledges were received during
the first quarter. Schifano anticipates that $30,000 in pledges should be considered
uncollectible due to people moving, transferring, etc. It was moved and seconded that the
mortgage loan be converted at $400,000 (interest rate 4.50%) and the motion passed
unanimously.
+ Father Gerry said that reaction to
the Instructed Eucharist was favorable, and that the children were especially good. He
said that adults usually enjoy this, too.
+ A motion by Senior Warden Gary
Bradshaw that furnishings for the Conference Room and Parish Hall be purchased at a cost
not to exceed $12,000 was passed unanimously.
+ Junior Warden Dick Wernick
expressed concerns about the non-functioning air conditioning in the new sanctuary. Father
Jim said that he would contact Kraft Construction.
+ Rachel Brown, our long time nursery
superintendent, has retired. We now need to find a committed person who would like to take
on this ministry. Father Jim said that he knows someone who might be interested.
