Nancie Hardin recently employed as Bookkeeper, resigned due to her husband, Rick's,
transfer to Austin, Texas. Karla Porter has agreed to take over these responsibilities
with the same compensation.
In reviewing the Treasurer's Report, Joe Schifano noted that the November deficit is
largely due to the Diocesan assessment payment of $5,000 plus. Dick Gerhart then stated
that the church is behind about $11,000 in pledge receipts as of November 30.
A new procedure to nominate vestry members was outlined by Father Jim. All members of
Nativity will be asked to consider nominating someone for the vestry. There will be an
insert in the next bulletin which clarifies vestry member qualifications for potential new
electees.
Karla Porter, who has made in-depth study of organs, recommends dealing with Mathis
Music and purchasing an Allen Organ. She detailed the attributes of the Allen, which will
cost approximately $52,000. She also requested that the vestry approve a 50% down payment,
and the offer is only good through December 31. The proposal and request were approved
unanimously by the vestry.
Change orders to the parish hall were discussed in detail.
Dick Gerhart reported on 2002 pledges to date. As of December vestry meeting the church
has received 75. Discussion of the 2002 Budget was tabled until the January meeting.
Outreach gifts were approved by the vestry. $1,200 to Manatee Community College
Chaplaincy. $1,000 to Northminster Presbyterian Church.
The next vestry meeting will be on January 14.
