Senior Warden Jabbo Gordon presided at the
regular monthly Vestry meeting in the absence of Father Jim who was on vacation in
Kentucky. He had a little trouble finding a quorum since two members were out-of-town, one
was sick and another had resigned.
Nancy John Langdon has resigned because she has entered
the Diaconate School for Ministry. The Vestry quickly found a replacement in the person of
Jo Davidsmeyer who was a runner-up in last January's election.
Jo has accepted the call and will serve the remaining two years and
three months of Nancy John's term. Ros Hall, who was an Alternate, will replace
Nancy John as a Delegate to the Annual Diocesan Convention in Punta Gorda on October 14.

for election to the Vestry at the annual general meeting, which will be February 3, 2001.
They are Ray Kow, George Smith and Dick Gerhart.
After the meeting, Bonnie Neiger, who had visited during the
session, agreed to run also. Anyone else who is interested in serving should contact Joanne
or Lois Johnson of the Nominating Committee.

program, which will start in January after a conference in St. Petersburg scheduled for
January 8 & 9.

cards to people who are on the list that appears monthly in Tidings. Anyone who is not on
the list should contact Elly in the Church Office.
Ros Hall will lead a committee that will study a proposal
to assist financially people who enter into a ministerial study program, such as FOCUS.
Bruce Simington, Chairman of the Building Committee, told
the Vestry that the nine member committee had finalized details during a meeting August
29. He said there was some lively discussion in different areas, but the architect should
have the final drawings ready by the end of October.
"Then, they will be submitted to county officials and
contractors," he said. "We hope to start in January and think it will take eight
or nine months to complete."
Meanwhile, Dick Gerhart has started talking with banks
concerning a construction loan. The committee also is looking into furnishing the new
sanctuary.
Junior Warden Dick Wernick, displayed a bronze casting
which will be erected in the Sola Dei Gloria Memory Garden. He said the garden dedication
is scheduled for November, but a date has not been set.
Dick also presented a proposal to hire Deacon Jan as the
Church's Administrator. A decision is scheduled to be made at the October Vestry meeting,
Monday, October 9.
Lois Johnson announced that she and Marcia Simington
have 25 tickets, at $15 each, for the Manatee Community College Chaplaincy anniversary
dinner. State Senator John McKay, an Episcopalian, will be the speaker.
Joanne Marino reported that Bonnie Neiger and Sue
Kow had agreed to serve as Sunday School teachers and that Deacon Jan would not
only conduct the Women's Bible Study on Wednesday evenings, but would facilitate the adult
Sunday School classes, which run from 9:40 to 10:15 AM.
