"Faith Lessons on the
PROPHETS and KINGS of Israel"
Filmed on location in Israel by Focus on the Family Films, Faith Lessons is a unique video series that brings God's Word to life with astounding relevance. By weaving together the Bible's fascinating historical, cultural, religious, and geographical contexts, teacher and historian Ray Vander Laan reveals keen insights into Scripture's significance for modern believers.
These illuminating faith lessons afford a new understanding of the Bible that will ground your convictions and transform your life. Faith Lessons on the Prophets and Kings of Israel focuses on God's faithfulness to His people in the wayward times of the kings and prophetsand now to us in our society today.

INTERESTED CRAFTERSWe would like to create a puppet ministry at Church of the Nativity. To start, we need puppets!! Anyone who likes to sew and can devote some time, please call Joanne Marino at 358-1112. We have some patterns for puppets, we just need the talented people to create them. Puppets have made a big difference in teaching Sunday School, so we would like to expand our creativity. The children love the puppets and learn so much by the puppets being a part of our program. Anyone with other learning ideas concerning the puppets, please call. We appreciate any and all help we can get to further our children's Christian studies.

MCC CHAPLAINCY TURNS 30!It's certainly unique, the only full time Chaplaincy and Chapel at a Community College in the Nation and it's turning 30 this Fall!!!
Our Manatee Community College (MCC) Chaplaincy was founded late in the Summer of 1970 and has found support as an outreach ministry in each of the Manasota Deanery Episcopal congregations.
To celebrate its uniqueness and major milestone, the Chaplaincy Corporation is hosting an Open House (4:00 to 7:00 PM and Dinner (7:00 PM) the afternoon and evening of October 24. The main speaker at the Dinner will be State Senator and next Senate President John McKay. Senator McKay will speak on the subject of "The Role of Religion In Higher Education."
Each local Episcopal congregation has tickets at $15/person for sale through both ECW and Chaplaincy representatives and the Parish Office. They may also be purchased by directly contacting the Chaplaincy at (941) 752-5446.
Let's get behind this celebration and cheer the Chaplaincy on. Its one of the major outreach and evangelism programs of our Parish and our Deanery!

Contrary to the name, you dont have to be a football hero or tiddley-winks champion to participate in Winners Dinners. All you need is a friendly smile, a desire to know more about your fellow Nativity parishioners, and an appetite for that wonderful food that Episcopal cooks are famous for.
Three or four couples or singles whose names have been drawn and placed in a group, gather at the hosts home for an evening of fellowship, fun, and food. The next month, another couple gets to host the same group. Hosts provide the pre-dinner nibbles and the main course while the others contribute the balance of the meal.
Beginning in September, five groups of eight will start the 2000 Fall season of Winners Dinners. Meeting once a month, every couple or pair of singles will have had an opportunity to host before Christmas.
To our "snow-bird" members and year round singles, a new list will be started the first of September and names will be added until late December. Dinner groups will be made up, and another round of dinners can begin in January. If you dont think you will return in time to sign up, drop a note to Elly at the Nativity office and she will be happy to add your name to the list.
This is truly one of the best ways to get to know that person you nodded to or exchanged the Peace with at service. Wont you please join us for the 2001 Winter/Spring season of Winners Dinners!

Welcome back to all the children of Nativity. We look forward to starting our regular Sunday School year on September 17th. Our original start date was on September 10th, but Father Gerry will be doing a wonderful instructional Eucharist for the children on that date. We all look forward to this learning experience for the children. Registration for Sunday School will be on September 10th after the 10:30AM service, with classes beginning at 10:20AM on September 17th. We will have two classes to begin with: 3 4 year olds; 5 year olds 2nd grade. We would love to add more classes, and we will if the registration calls for it. Please encourage your children of all ages to sign up for Sunday School. Of course, we will continue to have our nursery open for the youngest of our congregation. Only children under 3 will be allowed to stay in the nursery when Sunday School is in session.
Our call is still open for teachers, teacher's assistants, substitutes, and volunteers. As of this time, we do not have a teacher for the 5 year old 2nd grade class. Please call Joanne Marino at 358-1112 if you are interested in this rewarding ministry. You will be given all the help you need; and believe me, it is quite easy once you get going!! We are asking that parents of the Sunday School students volunteer for at least three Sundays every term to assist in a classroom. Your volunteer time in the Sunday School classes can be coordinated with other ministries you are involved in. The help of the congregation is also needed for the program to be successful. This is a wonderful ministry and it will help you to know the littlest ones of our congregation. If you can volunteer for any amount of time, please sign up on the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board. Together we will all make this program a success.
A big thank you goes out to all who volunteered their time for the summer program. It was successful because of the loving hearts and hands that came forward to assist. The volunteers created interesting projects for the children and taught them many wonderful things. Also, I would again like to mention a big THANK YOU to all who participated in the second successful Vacation Bible School.
