Nativity Tidings Newsletter of Church of the Nativity, Sarasota November 2003
Dioceson NotesSaturday, November 15, 2003 has been set to reconvene the convention of this diocese recessed on October 11, 2003. The convention will meet at St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Bradenton. The convention will open with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 9:00 am in Christ Church. Following the Eucharist, there will be an opportunity for Bible study and small-group conversation as we continue to prepare for the afternoon business session. The business session of the convention will be in the facilities at St. Stephen's. Please pray for guidance of the Holy Spirit as we seek God's guidance at this important moment. Adopt-A-Family and Nursing Home GiftsThis year, Nativity will adopt and provide gifts for two families one each in Manatee and Sarasota Conties. We will also provide gifts for residents in two nursing home: Life Care Center of Sarasota and Springwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Look for a display of Christmas trees in mid November. Each tree will contain ornaments, with each ornament identifying an individual and a gift suggestion. Return your gifts unwrapped and with their respective ornament attached, to the parish hall. On Tuesday, December 9th at 7:00 pm, we will celebrate Holy Communion and follow with a gift wrapping party and cookie exchange. If you have any additional gifts for families or seniors, please bring these items to the parish hall. The Adopt-A-Family and nursing home organizations will be grateful to have these bonus items to give to other families or residents. Springwood will hold a Christmas party for their residents and will distribute gifts to them at that time. We are welcome to attend this party. At Life Care, gifts will be delivered to the rooms of the residents. We are also welcome to meet and visit with our adoptees there. Contact Carolyn Johnson if you would like to participate. If you can, please help make Christmas more joyful for these Adopt-A-Families and nursing home residents. Watch for the Christmas Trees! New Nativity Tidings PublisherI have joyfully accepted the publisher position for the Nativity's Tidings. There are plenty of activities and events for all of us to make plans for, and fellowship opportunities to share. Please submit all items for the newsletter by the 15th of each month to keep the publication on schedule.. Thank you for your support ... Joanne Cline Faith Alive is Coming!
