Celebrate our True Freedom
In just a few days, Americans will celebrate 225 years of
independence and freedom. In light of the accounts we read, listen to and watch regarding
the total lack of independence and freedom in so many countries of this world, our
independence and freedom is to be respected and cherished. It should not be taken for
granted. As a nation, we are privileged to work in arenas and areas of our own choosing;
we can live in neighborhoods we enjoy (within our financial borders, of course); and we
are free to worship or not to worship where we choose.
However, for those of us called Christians, there is a place with greater
independence and freedom than America and of which we are already citizens
that is the kingdom of God. Entrance is free, our place in the kingdom of God was paid for
by the blood of Jesus our Lord. Maintenance is free, a gift of grace and Sonship from our
Heavenly Father. The road into the Kingdom has no toll booths and is laid straight for us
by our Counselor, the Holy Spirit.
The two prerequisites for entrance into the Kingdom of God are repentance
of our wrong doings, and our heartfelt love, trust and faith in Jesus. Christianity and
citizenship in His Kingdom does not mean knowing about Christ. It does mean knowing Christ
and to do that requires not earthly wisdom but heavenly grace.
Let's take time each day to rejoice and celebrate our tree freedom. May
you be constantly surrounded with God's gift of grace.
Joyfully,
Jan
