Im a "summer" person. Fall, winter, and
spring are but preludes to the most important season, that which is the longest season in
this part of Gods kingdom. However, this has been a particularly difficult summer at
our house. Many of you are aware of the health problems Millie has had and continues to
have. One problem seems to lead to another, but we have been sustained by our faith, and
by the prayers of all of you. We thank you for those prayers.
If there is any doubt about the efficacy of prayer in our lives, we need only to look
at our Nativity Family to see the power of prayer in tough times. Accidents, surgeries,
fires, building headaches, and deaths might cause most people to falter, but we are
Christians, and as such, rejoice in the prayers that are offered on our behalf by fellow
Christians all over the country. And in the midst of what could be calamities, we have
witnessed the miracle of new birth: a "new" church and new babies. Just when we
might be feeling sorry for ourselves, and the attendant pain we experience, our God
provides us with relief and joy in our lives.
The Nativity family is strong! A chain may be only as strong as its weakest link, but
the Family of God is as strong as its strongest link. God is that strong link that binds
us to each other; therefore we cannot be broken by any outside force. When we have God
linking the family, our troubles are bearable.
Continue in your prayer life. We have seen the power of prayer and how it impacts us as
individuals and as a congregation. Prayer lies at the very heart of our faith. Our
conversations with God allow that connection with the whole community of Faith that
supports our fellow Christians throughout the world.
