Profile Requirements for Nativity Priest

The following was presented to Rev. Bishop John Lipscomb and Rev. Michael Durning, Canon to the Ordinary, on March 17, 2004.

The purpose of this presentation was to ensure that the Candidate Search Process, which is managed by the Bishop's office, tries to match potential candidates against Nativity requirements.

Our requirements were formed from ten days of prayerful work by your Vestry. We included in our work written input from more htan 100 persons in our church from ou recent "Faith Alive" weekend. We also considered all that our church is involved in, both In- and Out-reach, and input from the recent Music and Flower Festival.

Our Requirements for a New Priest:

Christian belief in the Bible.

	Nativity is a Bible-based church
	Inspired by the Word of God
	working knowledge of the Bible
	only way is through Jesus
	led by the Holy Spirit
	supports Bible study and Bible schools

High energy:

	children's and youth programs
	married with children (not essential, but would be nice)
	strong focus on youth activities (we do not assume the youngest person will necessarily do the best job for the youth)

Good prayer person:

the meaning and purpose of prayer

extemporaneous prayer

Good communicator

	Written and spoken word and supports monthly newsletter
	Will listen to other opinions — leadership quality
	Delegates authority
	Strong focus on ECW and Daughters of the King (all ladies activities)
	Supports small group activities and programs (inreach and outreach)

Friendly personality

	Relates well to others
	Excited about Nativity (depth of conviction, God's call to Nativity ... not just a job)
	Prepared to make house calls
	Empathetic (caring) person

Supports both in- and outreach activities

We are in a population growth area: business and people and families

Dynamic preacher

Encourages music programs : choir hand chimes, plus more, and not just one style

Background check:

previous jobs, education, has hobbies and interests

continuing education
