Episcopal Church Women
(ECW)
The purpose of the ECW is to deepen the spiritual life of all church-women
and to foster active participation in the programs of the church. We are called to carry
on Christ's work of reconciliation in the world and to be leaders in the life and worship
of the church.
All women members of Episcopal congregations are members of the ECW. Local
organizations are called branches, and we are organized for service, worship, study,
fellowship, and prayer. Our branch has a traditional form of organization. Our dues are
considered more a donation to our branch to help us support whatever ministry and mission
we decide is particularly worthy in a given year.
Why should you participate in ECW?
For fellowship with other women, for education and awareness of social action, for your
own spiritual growth and nourishment, for renewed focus on mission and ways to
participate, for service, and for support in your own ministry. We each have different
gifts, values and ministries as women, and in the ECW there is opportunity to be all we
can be, together in the Lord. Join us in furthering God's kingdom in and outside these
walls.
Our local Nativity branch of ECW provides opportunities for involvement in four
outstanding ministries:
 | Christian Growth and Development: Nativity ECW offers Bible Study
("Journeys in Faith" or JIF), quiet days, DaySpring events, worship times,
Deanery gatherings, and always JOY in the Lord in all that we do. |
 | Christian Social Concerns: Nativity ECW Outreach Projects:
 | Operation Christmas Child (Shoe Box world ministry) |
 | Adopt-A-Family (Sarasota and Manatee local ministry) |
 | Nursing Home Gifts (local ministry) |
 | Tytoo Gardens Mission (Haiti ministry) |
 | Plus donations to local charities and food for the hungry |
|
 | United Thank Offering: Every cent of the UTO ingatherings will help
those less fortunate. Grants are given to meet the needs of shelter, schools, land,
vehicles and basic food and clothing throughout the world and even here at home. It is a
means of turning lives around. |
 | Church Periodical Club: This is a
worldwide ministry of the printed word. The CPC Miles of Pennies provides books for
children. Look for and donate pennies to our "Red Basket" and also note that the
CPC annual book sale is in January. |
Come and fellowhsip with us often. We each have different gifts, values, and ministries
as women, and in the ECW there is opportunity to be all we can be together in our worship
of the Lord.
