Adopt-A-Family and Nursing Home Gifts
This year, Nativity will adopt and provide gifts for two families one each in
Manatee and Sarasota Conties. We will also provide gifts for residents in two nursing
home: Life Care Center of Sarasota and Springwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Look
for a display of Christmas trees in mid November. Each tree will contain ornaments, with
each ornament identifying an individual and a gift suggestion. Return your gifts unwrapped
and with their respective ornament attached, to the parish hall. On Tuesday, December 9th
at 7:00 pm, we will celebrate Holy Communion and follow with a gift wrapping party and
cookie exchange.
If you have any additional gifts for families or seniors, please bring these items to
the parish hall. The Adopt-A-Family and nursing home organizations will be grateful to
have these bonus items to give to other families or residents.
Springwood will hold a Christmas party for their residents and will distribute gifts to
them at that time. We are welcome to attend this party. At Life Care, gifts will be
delivered to the rooms of the residents. We are also welcome to meet and visit with our
adoptees there. Contact Carolyn Johnson if you would like to participate.
If you can, please help make Christmas more joyful for these Adopt-A-Families and
nursing home residents. Watch for the Christmas Trees!

(From December 20, 1998 Church bulletin)
THANKS TO ALL who so generously gave of their time, talent, and resources to make our
Adopt-A-Family program such a success. Bringing joy to others is (amen!) the "reason
for the season," and here at Nativity the true meaning of giving unto others is
exemplified by one and all.

(From December, 1998 Nativity newsletter)
Two families will benefit this Christmas from the extraordinary generosity of our
Nativity community. We have chosen one family from Sarasota County and one from Manatee
County.
You may participate by buying a present for one of these deserving persons or by making
a cash donation so that the ECW can purchase gifts as requested.
The Adopt-A-Family Christmas tree poster is in the hallway with names, ages, sizes,
colors, etc. Please put a check mark next to the items you select. More than one person
may donate a specific item, especially clothing.
The total recommended for each person is $45. The total in household items is $30. Last
year we were fortunate to give each family a $50 gift certificate from Publix in addition
to the other presents.
Items may be brought to church before the ECW wrapping party on Tuesday, Dec. 8, or on
that evening. Gifts will be delivered that week. A tax receipt is available in the office.
The outpouring of gifts and money last year was wonderful. Doesn't it make your heart
happy to respond to requests like these?
Thank you for your support and ministry.
