Father Gerry and
Millie Bennett are hosting a Parish Ultreya for our Nativity Cursillistas
on Sunday, July 25th. There will be lots of music, food, and fellowship;
plus bring your swimsuit for a swimmingly good time.
For those who have
never been to a Parish Ultreya, here's a quick description. A Parish
Ultreya is a meeting of all Cursillistas (those who have attended a
three-day Cursillo weekend) in the parish for mutual encouragement in the
life of Christ. Ultreya means
Onward!
There are both Ultreyas for each church and also larger Diocesan Ultreyas.
At an Ultreya, we
come together for the purpose of engaging in fellowship and providing
support and encouragement for one another. In some ways, an Ultreya may be
thought of as a mini-replica of the three-day weekend. Members of the
Cursillo community bring food and share a meal together. There is a lot of
conversation and laughter and, of course, the singing of the wonderful
music of Cursillo.
After the meal, a
Cursillista gives a brief talk on his or her efforts to live for Christ in
an everyday environment. After the talk, there will be some brief
comments. We close our time together by joining in prayer. Every Ultreya
is a wonderful opportunity to get recharged with the Spirit.
Our special invited
speaker at this parish Ultreya will be Anna Haeffner.
Please R.S.V.P. to
the Bennetts. All Cursillistas and their guests are welcome, as well as
anyone who has attended an Emmaus, Chrysalis, Tres Dias, Kairos, or any
other similar three-day weekend based on the Cursillo method. If you're
interested in Cursillo, please talk to Father Gerry or our Cursillo
parish rep Jo Davidsmeyer.
