(From December 2000 Nativity newsletter) . . . there is a future for the man of peace. Psalms 37:37b As I write today, November tenth, for the December issue of Tidings, newspapers, the airwaves and conversations everywhere are focused on the United States election process. Anxiety and fear and bitterness - emotions that do not reflect a sense of peace - are predominate. Almost anywhere we look in the world today, we can see animosity and unrest in hearts and minds, and lives. None-the-less, Christians know that there is one who assures us that we can be men of peace: He is the Prince of Peace, God's gift to us. Now, as we begin to prepare for the celebration of his birth, and as our thoughts turn to giving gifts, let us not forget those needy ones who do not know the love, the promises, the joy of having Jesus for a friend, nor those who hunger for a deeper relationship with him and for his peace. Set aside gifts for our MOP basket and also for our annual NBF ingathering which will take place February fourth. Please continue to sort through your book collection for good reading for children and adults and bring some to church early in January for the Bring a Book Buy a Book sale. All proceeds from the sale are given to the NBF. The sale will run from January twenty-first through February fourth. Want to know more about CPC? Pick up a brochure from the rack in the narthex. Look over the grant lists posted on the ECW bulletin board in the church hallway. Did you know that one of our own young college students recently received an NBF grant for books? We at Nativity give generously to both -.NBF and MOP in the name of the Prince of Peace because we know there is a future filled with hope and joy for the man of peace and we want the world to know that too.
