Liturgical music

We sang our way through Advent and Christmas and now we prepare to celebrate the life of Christ throughout the year. The liturgical cycle gives wonderful structure to our study of the Word, our acts of Worship, and our Praise.

The choir and handchimes music selections are based on the lectionary. We strive to reinforce the message for Sunday. For the music participants, this is a joyous spiritual discipline in which we engage every week.

The physical activity of singing and playing handchimes is very invigorating. Functioning as a group helps us to reinforce the body of Christ. Our spiritual life is enriched by singing our Lord’s praises.

Our mission is best summed up in the words of Brother Roger of Taize, "Liturgical music must be like John the Baptist: always pointing to Christ, never calling attention to itself."

We want always to be prepared ("oil in the lamps"), pray, and turn our music over to God to be blessed and to be a blessing to all who hear the music.
