While it is now way past September, I
wanted to thank all those people involved with the concert presentation on September 29.
We heard a wonderful concert by organist Bob Shone and cellist Teresa Villani. The
Handchimes Choir members served as ushers/greeters and the Choir planned and staffed the
reception, as well as supplying most of the food. Everything went off without a hitch
thanks to the two groups mentioned above. We had a free-will offering at this concert and
I am pleased to say that the donations covered the expense of the musicians. In March,
2003, the Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity will present their annual benefit concert
bringing the Jensen Family to the church to play for us; proceeds from this concert will
be used for music scholarships.
These events bring people into our beautiful church and help to establish us in the
community; it is good to be visible and "known." And a little disconcerting to
meet people new to the church and have them (especially Episcopalians) say, "Oh, I
never knew you were here!"
So the concerts are yet another way to say Here We Are Come Join Us!
