Lend us Your Hands
The Quilting Sisters have kindly offered to help with the Children's Banner for th new
Sunday School classroom. We would like all the children of Nativity to be at the Church of
Nativity's fellowship hall on Saturday, February 2, 2002 at 10:00 am. We will be making a
hand print of each child and the Quilting Sisters will be sewing them on the banner.
Refreshments will be served.

MARK IT DOWN!
The First Day of Sunday School is September 17!
Welcome back to all the children of Nativity. We look forward to
starting our regular Sunday School year on September 17th. Our original start
date was on September 10th, but Father Gerry will be doing a wonderful
instructional Eucharist for the children on that date. We all look forward to this
learning experience for the children. Registration for Sunday School will be on September
10th after the 10:30AM service, with classes beginning at 10:20AM on September
17th. We will have two classes to begin with: 3 4 year olds; 5 year olds
2nd grade. We would love to add more classes, and we will if the registration calls
for it. Please encourage your children of all ages to sign up for Sunday School. Of
course, we will continue to have our nursery open for the youngest of our congregation.
Only children under 3 will be allowed to stay in the nursery when Sunday School is in
session.
Our call is still open for teachers, teacher's assistants, substitutes,
and volunteers. As of this time, we do not have a teacher for the 5 year old 2nd
grade class. Please call Joanne Marino at 358-1112 if you are interested in this rewarding
ministry. You will be given all the help you need; and believe me, it is quite easy once
you get going!! We are asking that parents of the Sunday School students volunteer for at
least three Sundays every term to assist in a classroom. Your volunteer time in the Sunday
School classes can be coordinated with other ministries you are involved in. The help of
the congregation is also needed for the program to be successful. This is a wonderful
ministry and it will help you to know the littlest ones of our congregation. If you can
volunteer for any amount of time, please sign up on the sign-up sheet on the bulletin
board. Together we will all make this program a success.
A big thank you goes out to all who volunteered their time for the summer
program. It was successful because of the loving hearts and hands that came forward to
assist. The volunteers created interesting projects for the children and taught them many
wonderful things. Also, I would again like to mention a big THANK YOU to all who
participated in the second successful Vacation Bible School.

Children's Call
There are new things going on in the Children's Sunday School. After a
meeting on February 12, it was decided that beginning March 1, Sunday School will begin at
10:20 AM. At this time, all of the classes will gather together for songs and prayer and
then continue to their classrooms. So as not to disturb classes in progress, the nursery
will be available to those children arriving after 10:30 AM. This new schedule will give
us more time and enable us to have a more meaningful session with the children. As it
always has been and will continue to be, our primary goal is the spiritual welfare of all
of our Nativity children.
By March 1, we will also be starting a new Sunday School curriculum. It is
called Hands On Bible Curriculum and will encourage participation by all children in the
class. Please have your children at Sunday School so that they can participate right from
the beginning in this new study.
There is a sign-up sheet in the hallway for all parents of Sunday School
kids to sign up to volunteer their time for one Sunday every two months to assist in the
Sunday School classes. We would appreciate 100% participation for this endeavor. It's for
your kids, and you'll have a great time.
Look for more information soon on VBS 2000. We will be having our Vacation
Bible School near the end of June, and we will update you as the information becomes
available.
Our Sunday School is in need of certain items that require additional
funds for us to purchase. Since our tape & CD player was stolen and found in the ditch
alongside the church, it has not worked. We have not been able to play the CD's and tapes
that we have for the children. Also, we would like to purchase some musical instruments
such as triangles, music sticks, etc., for the children to play. Our nursery also has some
needs for additional purchases. Your donation to the Sunday School will be greatly
appreciated. You can either put it in the donation plate on Sunday in an envelope marked
"Sunday School" or see Joanne Marino, Sharon Murphy, or Terri Teigland before or
after the 10:30 AM service. Thank you so much from all of the children,

The First Day of Sunday School is September
12th
Welcome back to all the children of Nativity. We look
forward to starting our regular Sunday School year on September 12th Our goal is to
continue with three classes: 2 - 3 year olds; 4 year olds - 1st grade; 2nd grade - 5th
grade. We would love to add a 6th grade - high school class, but there has been no
response to it in the past. if anyone would like to attend or teach this upper level class
please notify Joanne Marino at 358-1112. Of course, we will continue to have our
nursery open for the youngest of our congregation.
Our call is still open for teachers, teacher's assistants, substitutes,

Sunday school teachers' assistants are needed each Sunday in all classes
from 10:30 through 11:15am. Please see the sign up sheet on the bulletin board. You will
be blessed if you dedicate some of your time to our growing number of children by
volunteering for at least one Sunday prior to the holidays.

For the Love of Kids
Our Sunday School classes are going strong. We have a class for two- and
three-year-old children; a class for four-year-olds through 1st grade; and a class for 2nd
through 5th grade. And let's not forget that we have our nursery for the under two crowd!
All of the classes need volunteers to help the teachers and Rachel needs
help in the nursery. A sign-up sheet for Sunday School helpers is on the bulletin board.
Please sign up to give our kids about a half-hour of your time. If we get enough
volunteers, you may only get a chance to help once or twice.
It really is a lot of fun to teach the children and watch them learn about
the Christian way of life. For the love of kids, please be a part of this fulfilling
experience. You'll be surprised at how much you will enjoy them and they will enjoy you.
